Carob Tree Candle Sculpture

Back to products list

This wedge-shaped wood sculpture was created by OHV Italian artist Nic Romano from California Carob tree wood with unique dark red and natural ring finish indicating this tree was over 40 years old. Hand sanded with random cut inner notch for our 3" glass candle holder and beeswax candle (included). Measures 11" high by 12" wide. One-of-a-kind, slanted wood sculpture makes a dramatic centerpiece. Caron wood exhudes a slight scent of cedar. Naturally felled in California.

Ceratonia siliqua, commonly known as the Carob tree, St John's-bread, or locust bean is a species of flowering evergreen shrub or tree in the pea family, Fabaceae. It is widely cultivated for its edible pods, which contain four series of oval holes, each bearing a seed like a watermelon seed. Each pod can contain up to 15 seeds. Carob seeds and pods are edible. The ground seeds are used as a substitute for cocoa.

The trunk has deep red inner rings which turn to natural shades of younger rings, presenting this dramatic, visual display.
